Sixth Post

Blogs can reach world wide and just like students and teachers blog here in the United States schools and teachers blog in other countries as well. Blogs from all over can teach us all something new and different about the world.

The first blog I found internationally was the blog called Shu Ren International School blog . This blog is all about this Mandarin school and it shows what classrooms look like what students look like and what is expected there. The idea behind this blog is to get more people to attend this school. It looks to me to be a school anyone around the world could attended if wanted. They show programs such as summer camp and adult programs. It is also geared to younger students as well. Looking around on the blog I notice that teachers at this school have blogs as well. Which can shows someone who might want there child there what all goes one. It shows the children learning and playing. The idea behind this blog unlike the America blogs i found is geared more towards the school and what it has to offer not geared towards education of a individual classroom. The next blog that I found from a international school was Pencaitland Primary blog . Its all about a primary school in Scotland. The blog itself is based around giving information about the daily activities of the students in the school. The school is very small and so this blog lets parents and others alike show whats goes on. It allows the students to interact as well because they are also on the blog participating in educational activities that they can go home and show their parents. The site also shows classrooms and what goes one in them. They even make a point to show the football team ( or soccer team as Americas like to call it). This blog is very center around all the students in the school because it shows their artwork and just general hard work. This blog is very educational and student friendly.

The use of technology in the classroom today is overwhelming and a great addition to learning. In doing some research on the Internet I found two teachers who blog for there students and for the parents. The first blog I am going to explain is Mr. Clung blog . This blog is geared towards middle school students and shows video of his students as well as all the work they accomplish while in class. Its a great tool cause not only can students go on there and see their work and see what has been going on it keeps them active in the learning process. This blog is also great for parents who are very involved in there child's school and want to know what they are learning while they are away at school during the day. Mr.Clung places videos up there of his class as well as other educational videos, he also shows what experiments they do and pictures from inside the classroom. He explains each step and this blog truly shows how involved he is with his students. His blog is also filled with sites for students or other teachers to use in aiding their education. Mr.Clung classroom blog is a wonderful add to his teaching. It engages students and teaches them something new as well as involving the parents.
The next blog that i am going to tell you about is Janice Friese's blog who is a Information Technologist, who decided to blog about her trip to Greece by uploading pictures and information to keep her students informed and learning. The whole blog about her trip to Greece, where she went in Greece, and educational trips she took while there. This blog is geared more to a older group of students, probably ranging from high school to college level. She gives a play by play of what she did and everything. I think its a good tool because for someone who maybe can't go to Greece and read this and see the beauty that is Greece. Her students as well get to learn about something while their teacher is away. Its like she is teaching while being outside the classroom. Her blog was very inspiring and showed the beauty of Greece and gave a great example to her students.

The idea to use blogs in a classroom setting is a great one. It allows students to get involved and allows parents to become involved in there students life's as well. These blogs establish something special between student and teacher as well.

Fourth Post

Every state has its way of trying to make the education within that state better. The state of Alabama has done one such thing and its call ACCESS or Alabama Connecting Classroom Educators and Students Statewide program. The idea behind this program is so that student can excel. Many public schools don't offer a wide variety of Advance Placement programs and with this program schools can. The idea behind this program according to their website, is to allow students to provide advance placement courses, dual enrollment courses, advance diploma courses and many more.

This program allows the student and or teacher to bring a computer into the classroom and allow a child to learn from it with a online course. This program also provides extra tools for teachers with courses that may be in the school but just need a little more help. The ACCESS program not only wants to be located in schools but also provide centers for students to attend. The state of Alabama does not want its students to fall behind in times when education is everything. The ACCESS program is one that I think can help with that.

My profession will not require me to use this website or program because its not focused on physical education but the academics of school. This should be intertwined in every public schools so that students have every opportunity to excel and whatever they may want to do.

The movie called "Did you know?" in my opinion is a in genius way to reach students and teachers alike about the many problems that children of tomorrow will face without the right education. This problem is not just state wide but world wide. The United States is lucky we can offer education to almost every child many countries can not. The statistics on this movie were amazing to me, the idea of how many people use the Internet and computers when they have not been around that long.

It just shows how they can come in handy in the educational setting. I think students and teacher should watch this because it really opens your eyes. To think about how many children don't finish fifth grade or that all of India can speak English. Its amazing the facts in this. America is not alone in its struggle to create programs for the future of students. The idea that there are majors now for things that have not even happen yet. We are preparing for what is to come and creating a better world for it. However to create that better world everyone needs to understand what are children need.

I liked the fact it gave questions to ask your principal, school board, and representatives. These are people that play a hand in what the future children learn and when. We need to work for a better tomorrow.

Second Post

What is ALEX? The idea behind ALEX seems simple enough. It's a program created so that the teachers in Alabama are teaching our students the right thing at the right time. The website provides courses of study, lesson plans, web links, and much more. Anything and everything to make sure teachers are on the right track with the student.

ALEX allows even physical education teacher a laid out plan that states at what level a kindergartner should be doing certain things. The website also shows things for professional learning to take it to the next level as well as e-learning. E-learning is for school that may not offer certain course and they can be taken online. The idea for ALEX is a great one and one teacher of any field should use. The students of today need to be ready for tomorrow.

For me going into physical education as my professional ALEX would be a great tool. The fact that you can pick the grade you are going to teach and it shows what that level should be learning and when as well a lesson plans. Whenever I get a job in my field this website will be a very vital tool.

First Post

Hi, my name is Brooke. I am a Junior at the University of South Alabama, majoring in Physical Education. I graduated from St. Paul's Episcopal School in 2006. I attended that school for 13 years. Also it is where I would love to teach one day.

Being a physical education major, I would love to teach pre-K through Second grade because they tend to enjoy physical education the most. Teaching has been around me ever since I can remember. My grandmother taught at the school I graduated from for 22 years and loved every minute of it. She is what inspired me to become a physical education major.

Even though my major is physical education I plan to come back to school and get a bachelors in history as well because it is my second favorite thing to learn besides the major I am in now. I would love to be able to get a job as P.E teacher or as a high school history teacher. Either way I would be teaching, which would be great.

Don't really know what else to say. Other then I work at the school I graduated from with pre-K through kindergarten in a afternoon care. I have been there for four years now. I love children and could not imagine a job that did not include them.

My favorite website is Facebook
